

George Turner Evans Sr, 85 of Hemet, California passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Thursday, December 26, 1935 and was married to the love of his life, Marion Evans for over 58 years. George is known by " The Chief " and "The Commander" by many in the community. George was a proud member of the Marines. He also was a volunteer firefighter and Fire Chief for over 20 years with the Rusling Hose Company of New Jersey. George was a member of the American Legion Post 848 for many years and Commander of the post for 6 years. George was also a member of the local Moose Lodge and was Governor from 2018 - 2020. George and his family owned the Afton's Gift and Flowers in the Farmer Corner building for over 30 years before he retired. He worked for over 47 years in the newspaper business as a pressman. One of his fondest memories was being present at game 6 , October 20th of the 1980 World Series where the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Kansas City Royals 4 to 1. He was very active in the community and also served 8 years on the San Jacinto Chamber of Commerce. He was very active in his families and grandchildren's lives going to sports events and being their number one cheering section . His presence in the community was felt by everyone he touched.. He was interested in people and loved to be involved in many organizations to make the community a better place to live. He was known and loved by many and will be missed. Surviving are is his wife Marion Evans; daughter Debra Dhanani (Yurzul) ; son George Evans, grandchildren Julian Dhanani (Polly); George Evans Jr. (Alexis); Adam Dhanani; Nadia Dhanani; Ali Dhanani; Kimberly Evans and Don Krause The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and 3:15PM to 5:00PM on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at Miller-Jones Hemet Mortuary, 1501 W Florida Ave , Hemet, California.
