

He was born on April 30, 1961 in El Paso, Texas to Epifanio and Rosa Provencio. Gerry is proceeded in death by this mother, Rosa Pavia Provencio. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Barbara Ann Appelzoller. They were married on May 15, 1982. Together they have two surviving children, Gabriella Elan Provencio, and Gianina Eryn Provencio.
He is also survived by his father, Epitanio Provencio and the following siblings, Joe Provencio (Sandra), Tony Provencio (Genny), Ruben Provencio (Martha), Elizabeth Provencio; and many nieces and nephews.
Gerry graduated from Gadsden High School in 1979 and was listed in the High School All American for academic and athletic achievements. He received an Engineering Scholarship from the Department of Defense to attend New Mexico State University and graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Minor in Economics.
He began his career at Mare Island Navy Shipyard in Vallejo, California as a mechanical engineer and proceeded employment with P.E.R.A. organization in San Francisco, California. In 1996 he transitioned to work for S.W.R.M.C. O.P.S. Waterfront with the Navy carriers on Coronado Island Naval Base.
Gerry was an avid cyclist. While living in Northern California he cycled regularly on Mount Tamalpais State Park located in Marin County. Moving to Southern California, he continued to enjoy cycling at Palomar Mountain and throughout the Temecula and Fallbrook areas.
He was also an avid sports fan who loved the San Francisco 49ers and Giants. Gerry's devotion to his daughters led him to become the ultimate dance Dad so that he could participate in every moment of the girls' ballet dancing experience.
