

Today we honor a beloved husband, devoted father, nurturing grandfather, dependable relative, amazing friend, and of course as he would definitely never let you forget, an upstanding Marine! Gregory Romaro Benjamin, Sr. was born on September 15, 1949 in Chicago, IL to his parents, Sylvia Rainey & Willie Benjamin. As a young boy he excelled in academics.
He went to Calumet High School where he met the love of his life, Corliss Pullum. In high school he played the drums and ran track (hurdles event). He graduated in 1967.
He married Corliss in April of 1967 and the high school sweethearts were together until his death, for 54 years. Gregory enlisted in the Marines in 1971 and served with honor for 12 years. He traveled the world with Corliss and was stationed in San Diego, CA; Millington, TN; El Toro (2-tours), CA; Iwakuni, Japan (2-tours); and Beaufort, SC. Family was important to Greg and as the years went on, he was blessed with five children and seven grandchildren.
Gregory was highly intelligent and also formally educated. He received his Associate of Science: from Rancho Santiago College and his Bachelor of Science: from National University. He worked as an Aerospace & Electronics Engineer: Prudential Insurance Agent; Electronic Engineer for NCR (National Cash Register); Rockwell International, Micro-Electronics Engineer; Northrop, NASA Engineer; and Business Owner, Video Source Electronics. There wasn’t much Greg couldn’t do or fix. He was gifted with his hands and he along with his wife made each home they lived in, into an enchanted beautiful dwelling filled with a sound system like no other, detailed woodwork and personalized hand crafts around each corner that made you feel welcomed.
His hobbies and interests included Electronics, Science Fiction, Aerospace, USMC Veteran Honor Guard, listening to music and watching movies.
Gregory was preceded in death by his mother, his father and his youngest son, Eric Benjamin.
He is survived by his loving wife Corliss Benjamin, his children: Maurice Pullum (LaTonya), Gregory Benjamin Jr., Eric Benjamin, Makayla Benjamin-Hall (Rakin), and Dominique Benjamin. His Grandchildren: Ira Benjamin, Marcellus Pullum, Jazmine Benjamin, Gregory Benjamin III, Cameron Benjamin, Haile Pullum, and Halo Hall and his brother: Courtney Benjamin (Christina).
Gregory is also survived by the countless memories he gave us, the laugh we can still hear and the brilliant smile that will always be embedded in our hearts. The family would like to thank each of you for the phone calls, text messages, and cards and all the personal ways you have showed them love and support in their time of need.
Arrangements are entrusted to Miller-Jones Mortuary, 23618 Sunnymead Boulevard, Moreno Valley, California, where the family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Wednesday, December 2, 2020, with a service to follow at 12:00 PM. Committal service will be at Riverside National Cemetery at 2:15 PM, Wednesday, December 2, 2020.
