

Gwendolyn was born September 23, 1948 in Memphis, TN. Her parents Charles and Helen Brent proceeded before her death and brother Carl Robinson.
She is survived by husband Leonard Griffin, (stepchildren) Leonard La-Monte Griffin, Sacramento, CA, and Quintella Griffin, Antioch, CA, (nephew) Antuan Lee and his wife Dorolyn Lee, Chicago, IL, (niece) Tomeka Barker, Chicago, IL, (cousin) James Sidney, St. Louis, MO, (cousin) Patricia Sidney, Memphis, TN, (cousins) Dennis Sweeney and Julia Sweeney, Cleveland, OH, (brother-in-law) Tyrone Griffin, Chicago, IL, (brother-in-law) Andre Griffin, Springfield, IL, (sister-in-law) Castillo Jones, Flint, MI, (best friend) Lois McShan, Dallas, TX and a host of many family members and friends.
Gwendolyn graduated from Crane High School in 1965. Thereafter, she attended Jarvis Christian College in Texas. Gwendolyn soared as an eagle and put the lyrics of “I’m Every Woman” in her steps. Her stellar career began as a successful supervisor at the Department of Defense in Chicago, IL. She was also employed as the Vice President of Telecommunications at various financial institutions that set the stage for both then and today’s women. Gwendolyn was the Secretary of the Inland Empire Corvette Club.
Gwendolyn was very giving, an excellent wife, friend and mother. Not to mention, she was straightforward in letting one know what was on her mind. She was a highly intellectual woman.
Other attributes loved by her family and friends were her “Stepping” dance skills, exhibiting her classy and sassy attire and those fabulous meals. She was a virtuous woman and a loving wife.
Gwendolyn will truly be missed….
Leonard and Gwendolyn were as we now say “Rider-Die” partners of 25 years. Their life journeys and interest included traveling abroad, music, dancing, supporting their communities and hosting gatherings for family and friends.
