

James Nicholson passed away peacefully in his home in Menifee, California on March 4, 2017. Born in Charleston, South Carolina on January 22, 1939. James lived his childhood years in San Diego, where he found his love for fishing, especially deep sea fishing. He also enjoyed diving for lobsters.
During his high school years he enrolled in ROTC, Camp Pendleton, California as a Marine. Later he joined the army where he was stationed in Germany as a medic from 1962 to 1965. During those three years he enjoyed touring Europe. He returned to the states after his service and worked as a respiratory therapist. His second career was working for the California Department of Corrections, where he retired in 2004.
Not only did James love the sport fishing, he enjoyed gardening, was an avid reader, a great historian, especially ancient history. He was a military buff throughout his life. James and Darleen enjoyed traveling after his retirement, sailed on ocean cruises, river cruises in Europe and made several trips to Hawaii, did road trips throughout the states and Canada until his health started to fail.
Survived by his wife, Darleen, son, James (Melissa); daughter, Kimberly (Harry), two granddaughters, Isabella and Audrey; stepchildren included Shelley (Bruce), Michael (Mary Ann), and David (Amber); four step grandchildren, Katie (Andy), Michael, Shayna and Jessica.
James will be missed greatly, was a loving and devoted father and husband.
