He served in the U.S. Air Force (military police) for 8 years leaving to join the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department in 1959 retiring 1982 as the Executive Officer. After retiring, he worked for the University of Riverside as Executive Officer, Business and Financial Services, retiring in 1992. He graduated from Pepperdine University with a Doctorate of Education Degree on December 16, 1989.
Jay is survived by his loving wife of over 60 years, Beverly Hughes; 7 children - Joanne, Tommy, Gregory, Stephen, Jerald, Robert, and Cathy; 21 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, January 10th. Religious services are at 11:00 A.M at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church 10915 Pigeon Pass Rd., Moreno Valley, CA. followed by interment at 12:45 P.M. at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside, CA.
