The Angel of Peace came for Jean
after 7 years of valiant struggle with
cancer.
Jean spent 50 years as an RN at
various hospitals from Martinsburg,
WV to Fullerton, CA; once retiring to
Hemet, CA, she worked with Riverside
County bloodmobile. It was in Martinsburg, WV that she
met Retired Major Robert Phelps (Army) who was
recuperating from illness at a local hospital. They married
and raised 3 children Robb, wife Julia, Susanne, husband
Bob, and Randy, wife Michelle. They in turn gave them 9
grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Jean was
preceded in death by her first husband Robert and one
grandchild.
It was in Hemet, CA, that Jean met William Herzog, also
a widower. They formed an ideal 30 year relationship that
let to marriage while traveling the world, usually by sea, on
numerous cruises. She was an inspiration and a role model
who will be missed dearly by a large family tree and many
friends.
A memorial service will be on Saturday, February 10,
2018 at 10:00 AM at Miller-Jones Mortuary in Hemet. There
will be a celebration of life after the service at Robb's
house.
