

John M. Albrecht, age 78, passed away peacefully at home on August 18th surrounded by his loving family and his dog Sasha, his constant companion. John was born in Long Beach, California on July 16, 1939, the son of Leonard and M. Adele Albrecht of the Bixby Knolls area.
He graduated from Poly High School and Long Beach City College prior to graduating from California State University at San Jose with a degree in business. After meeting Barbara in high school and dating her throughout college, John and Barbara married in 1962 and would have celebrated their 53rd anniversary on August 26th. They soon moved from Long Beach to Orange County, where they raised two wonderful children, son Dr. Derek Albrecht of the Murrieta/Wildomar area and daughter Mrs. Tracy Taber of Costa Mesa.
John worked as a sales representative for both Proctor & Gamble and the Travelers Insurance Company prior to becoming a commodities broker, selling precious metals at Monex Credit Company in Newport Beach.
John lived a life of success, adventure, world -wide travel, family, friends, and love. He was an avid handball player and golfer, in earlier times having a single-digit handicap. He was also a snow skier and a prolific reader. In addition, he enjoyed dominoes and card games, especially bridge, and spending time at the family's vacation homes in Coronado and Palm Desert. He had a passion for automobiles, his favorites being his Porshe 928 and his 1948 Jaguar drop-head convertible.
Following his retirement after 30 years at Monex, John and Barbara moved to Canyon Lake in2002, where he was a member of the Men's Golf Club, Travel Club, CLAMS, and the Over the Hill Game golf group.
John was preceded in death by his parents and his brother and he is survived by his wife Barbara, son Derek and daughter-in-law Rachael, daughter Tracy and son-in-law Tim Taber and six grandchildren: Clayton, Lauren and Carson Albrecht and Toby, Tristin and Timory Taber.
John's Celebration of Life will be held at the Canyon Lake Country Club on Tuesday, September 3rd at 3:00 p.m.
