John Frederick Weger, 85, passed away on Good Friday, April 19, 2019, in Hemet, California. He was born on September 13, 1933 in Lima, Ohio to the late Richard and Marie Weger. John had a passion for the entertainment industry where he enjoyed a vibrant career in the 1950’s. He was a member of the Screen Actors Guild and appeared in a number of theatrical performances at the Pasadena Playhouse and performed with the likes of John Barrymore and Ron Ely to name a few. His ‘Hollywood look’, as well as his singing voice, was often compared to Dean Martin. While in television, he was cast as the rugged Viceroy Man for cigarette commercials. Upon leaving the entertainment industry, he moved his family to Missouri where he purchased a farm and began a successful career as an insurance salesman. He then relocated his family to Portland, Texas where he started his own business. John loved the beach and taking his boys sailing in the Corpus Christi Bay in Texas. Tennis was also a favorite pastime as he would rarely miss a weekend to take his boys out on the courts. He was described by his family as being very charismatic, caring and a family man. Until the day of his passing, he would unselfishly put his boys first in everything he did. If you ask John…nothing was more important than his boys whom he loved very much. Surviving are sons, John Weger Jr. (wife Maggie); Christian Weger (wife Sonya) both living in Texas; brother Richard Weger, 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Services are scheduled at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio at 2:45pm on May 24th.
