He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara; sons, Gary and Mark, and their wives; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; as well as 2 sisters and a brother. His brother, Norman was killed in Vietnam in 1967.
John lived his first 62 years in New Jersey. He worked as a special procedure technician at Columbia Presbyterian medical Center in New York City for 38 years.
John was an active member of Emerson Bible church in Emerson, New Jersey for 32 years as a youth leader, Sunday School Teacher and Deacon. In 1997 he was ordained as a pastor by the International Fundamental Churches of America. He preached at Emerson Bible Church and also as a substitute pastor in area churches.
His hobbies included golf and photography, especially nature photography. His beautiful flower albums were donated to shut-ins and nursing homes. He was a lifelong Giants baseball fan, starting with their games at the Polo Grounds in New York City. He also saw them play in San Francisco.
Following a stroke in 1998, he moved to Sun City, CA to be closer to children and grandchildren. He pastored the Quail Valley Church from 2000 to 2006. Many loving relationships and memories remain from those years.
He also was a chaplain at Menifee Valley Hospital for many years, being known as the "chaplain with cane."
John also volunteered in the children's and men's ministry at Menifee Valley Community Church of the Nazarene, under Pastor Rob Altice.
We so appreciated the loving care of the Arbor Hospice members. They made his homegoing a blessing to share.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Arbor Hospice in John's memory.
