

Joyce“Joy” E. Rawlings- Meier ‘took her trip’ as she always referred to it, on Aug.31, 2010 in Hemet, CA. Joy was born Dec 13, 1926 in Ryderwood WA to Althea M.(Wymer) 1899-1994 and Edward E. Priem 1898-1985. A long time resident of St.Helens OR and former Safeway employee, Joy spent the last 12 years enjoying thesunshine of Southern Calif. during the wintermonths. She went on bus tours, biked, played bingo and slots, enjoyed many socialevents with her friends at Casa Del Sol, and continued her lifetime love ofplaying golf- still walking the course in her mid 70’s. Precededin death by her son Dale Lewis (1984) husbands Bud Lewis (1992), WilliamRawlings Jr. (1995), and David Meier (2005), brothers Keith Priem (1934),Kenneth Priem (1959) and sister Mary Lou (1929). Survived by her beloved anddevoted nephew Dan Priem (w. Sharon ) of Kent WA,caring and thoughtful step-son Bill Rawlings III (w. Judye) of St. Helens ORand Bullhead City AZ and step-daughter Susan (Rawlings) Kennedy (h. Paul) of Bellevue WA .Grandmother to Marnie (Rawlings)Weiss- Prosser (h. Tim) of Scappoose OR, Amanda (Rawlings) Wilcox (h. Andy) of Scottsdale AZ , MattKennedy (w. Jamie) of Kirkland WA ,and Alex Kennedy of Bellevue WA . great-grandmother “G.G.” to KarsynWeiss, Willie Weiss, Sophia Prosser and Payton Wilcox. Survived also by David’sdaughters Carol Pennington (h. Scott) of Cornelius OR, Teresa Maier (h. Ernie)of Lockford CA ,and Kathy Messlein (h. Steve) of Stockton CA along with their families. Alsosurvived by her sister Vickie Pearce of Beavercreek OR, niece Judy (Priem)Anderson (h. Sid) of Seattle WA and their family, and niecePam (Priem) Coate of Des Moines WA and her sons. Joywill be deeply missed by many besides her family, including: her treasuredfriend of over 40 years Donna Miller of St. Helens OR, cherished & devotedfriend Connie Perrizo (h. Jay) of St. Helens OR and Hemet CA, dear friend KarenWagner (h. Pete) of Arlington WA, warm hearted friend Inge Hoehn (h. Bill) ofPowell River, Canada, lifelong wonderful friend Lonnie Unterwagner of VancouverWA and Hemet CA, precious friend Alannah Wolrich (h. Ray) of Vancouver, BCCanada and Hemet CA, valued friend Veniese Williams (h. Jim) of Tacoma WA, her indispensibledear friend and companion Don Tofft of Hemet CA, her trusted advisor TheronConover of Portland OR, and countless others who touched Joy’s life with theirfriendship. Throughouther life, Joy kept a positive spirit and exuded style and a flair for fashion.She took great pride in her appearance and loved to have fun. Joy alwaysbrought the party with her! Ahappy ‘Bon Voyage’ celebration for Joy will be held in Hemet once her U.S. & Canadian snowbirdfriends return to the area. Dan,Sharon and Don would like to personally extend deep appreciation to thewonderful nurses, aides, staff and residents we met and spoke with at TheVillage, Assisted Living Facility in Hemet CA for their care, compassion,assistance and friendship they showed Joy during the last months of her life. We also would like toconvey our deep gratitude to the Ramona Hospice staff and care providers fortheir dedication to Joy and empathy shown to us.Agraveside entombment service will be held at the Columbia Memorial Gardens Cemetery ,Scappoose OR on Sat.
