Julia Nelson passed away at her home in Moreno Valley, California on Monday, August 12, 2013, at the age of 74. Julia suffered with mesothelioma (asbestos cancer) and her passing is a tremendous loss to all who knew her. She struggled with leaving those she loved most dearly behind.
As a child of the "Great Depression," Julia was a strong and courageous woman. She was born on March 2, 1939 in Biloxi, Mississippi to Willard J.C. "Jake" Bond and Vera Mae Williams and was raised by her father and stepmother, Jake and Mildred Bond.
Julia loved her husband (Ron Nelson), children (Wes Batchelor and Joyce Bates) and grandchildren (Jason, Kevin and Joseph Batchelor) more than life itself. She was quick-witted; never taking herself too seriously. Julia had a great love of the outdoors. Her beautiful flowery gardens and green landscapes revealed a tenderness and persistent attention to details. Always encouraging, loving, nurturing, and protective of her family and friends; she instilled within her children a strong work ethic and courage to do the right thing. Above all, she valued honesty to self and others. Julia was a warm person who would instantly adopt you as her extended family.
Her life of tremendous happiness began when she and Ron were married on September 1, 1981. They loved, cherished and took care of each other for thirty-two years and their time together was the happiest of her life.
Julia is survived by her beloved husband, children, grandchildren, and brother (Huey Penton).
A celebration of her life will be held in Julia's garden on Sunday, August 25 at 6:00PM.
Julia was loved by many and touched more lives than she ever knew. While she is greatly missed, she is no longer in pain and is resting in the arms of our Heavenly Father. He has prepared a beautiful garden especially for her that far exceeds our understanding or imagination. We love you, darling, sweet, amazing friend, sister, mother, grandmother, wife and daughter of Christ.
