

Lloyd Melvin Reid was born in Los Angeles, California on June 4, 1925 to Alexander and Myrtle Holmes Reid. He passed away in his home surrounded by his wife and loving family on December 11, 2012 in Hemet, California. Lloyd was a devoted husband and family man, a gentleman farmer and a lifetime animal lover. (His cat, April was with him to the end never leaving his bed.)
He attended George Washington High School in Los Angeles, California and proudly joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 during World War II. He was trained for submarine/torpedo warfare but was assigned service aboard the USS Hector, a naval repair ship in the Pacific Theatre where he learned lifetime skills. After the war he hired on with the Southern California Gas Company where he retired 32 years later as a District Supervisor. Lloyd had a personality bigger than life. He was a man’s man, hardworking and well respected by all his peers.
Those who knew and loved Lloyd knew of his deep passion for building and construction. He built several homes and remodeled every home he lived in with skill and wonderful creativity. Always creative and resourceful with building materials, Lloyd’s homes and projects stand today as a real tribute to his talents.
He is survived by his loving wife Rosemary of 35 years. Three children; Gary Melvin Reid of Hemet, CA., Alexa Reid Robinson of Medina, Texas, and Andrea Reid Kohler of San Clemente, CA.; three step children; Dana Lind Plagenhoef of Maine, Lori Lind Peterson of Newport, CA and Angela Lind Bashaw of Hemet, CA; 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and two cats and one dog.
