Marie Fowler of Sun City California passed away in her home on June 6th 2017. Marie Bisant, one of eight children, was born July 7, 1917 in Denver Colorado. After graduating from high school, she was employed at the Remington Arms plant near Denver. After World War II began, Marie enlisted in the U. S. Coast Guard and spent the majority of her service at the New London, Connecticut Base. She advanced in rating until she reached Pharmacists Mate, Petty Officer First Class. After her Honorable Discharge, and back in Denver, Marie was hired as a secretary by Mountain States T & T. That branch of the telephone company found Marie proficient in shorthand and therefore recommended her transfer to Pacific T & T in Santa Ana, California, where she remained until her retirement.
Along the way, Marie met William Sherwood Fowler. "Bill" was a meat broker who supplied the major grocery stores in Los Angeles County. Bill won Marie's heart, and vice versa. They were happily married until his untimely demise in the 1970s. They had no children.
After Bills death, Marie moved to Sun City where she lived independently, with her faithful dog "Rudy."
One month from now, a surprise 100th birthday celebration was to take place for Marie here on earth. Do you suppose Marie is celebrating a bit early?
Surviving are her brother Clement Bisant of Denver, and sister JoAnne Lander of Sun City. Marie has over one dozen nephews, nieces, grand nephews, grand nieces and a multitude of friends. The latter may be found every Thursday morning at Hat's Off Beauty Salon in Sun City.
Marie's funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday June 12th at St. Vincent's in Sun City, to be followed by a graveside service in Santa Ana, where she will be buried next to Bill.
