Mavis Ann Bahde

Mavis Ann Hedges was born December 31, 1934 in Spirit Lake, IA. She was the daughter of Harold and Thora (Tritle) Hedges. Mavis attended schools in Iowa at North Superior, Spirit Lake and Ocheyedan, graduating from Ocheyedan with the class of 1952. She also attended business school after graduation and worked for several different offices over her lifetime.

She was married to Verle Edward Bahde on March 23, 1957 at the Harris Methodist Church in Harris, IA. One daughter, Deanne Kay and one son, Keith Paul were born to this union.

After their marriage, they lived on Verle's parents’ farm south of Lake Park, IA where Verle worked with his father farming. They moved from there to Fort Dodge, IA, and in 1962 moved to Torrance, CA. Following retirement in 1993, Verle and Mavis moved to Temecula, CA, where they enjoyed their leisure time spent with friends and family.

Most important to Mavis was her family. She was dedicated to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing and made many special clothes and quilts for her family. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, playing cards and traveling. She and Verle made many trips back to Iowa and took different routes to see a lot of the United States. For their 50th wedding anniversary, they took their entire family on a cruise down the coast of California and Mexico, making three stops along the way at Mazatlan, Cabo San Lucas, and Puerto Vallarta.

Mavis passed away on May 2, 2020. Graveside services were held on May 12, 2020 for immediate family members at the Temecula Public Cemetery in Temecula, CA.

Left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Deanne (Sam) Pittman of Torrance, CA, her son, Keith (Marcie) Bahde of Pickerington, OH, twin granddaughters, Danielle (Eric) Rainey of Firestone, CO and Jaclyn (Nehemiah) Gwaltney of Longmont, CO, grandson, Mark (Gladys) Pittman of Torrance, CA, and granddaughter Samantha Bahde of Pickerington, OH; great-grandchildren, Camille and Isabelle Rainey and Hannah, Hailey, Julianna and Jackson Gwaltney. Also three sisters, Lavonne Hansen of Spirit Lake, IA, Mary Lou Youngdahl of Milford, IA and Joyce Krull of Spirit Lake, IA, as well as two brothers-in-law, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Mavis was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one brother and two brothers-in-law, her sister-in-law, and her parents-in-law.
