Randolph Leo Johnson
1927 – 2022
Randolph Leo Johnson was born August 5, 1927 to the parents of George Johnson Senior and Laura Johnson, in the city citronelle, ALA. who preceded him in death. In 1953, he joined the U S Navy and served in the Korean War where he was given the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean Service Ribbon (1 Star).
Prior to joining the US Navy Randolph married Willie Bell Johnson who preceded him in death. During this union of 32 years, they raised three wonderful children, Kenneth Johnson of Newport Beach, CA, and Donna Johnson Brown and Laura Johnson both of Long Beach, CA. Randolph has seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Randolph was the younger of two siblings, Florina Sullivan and George Johnson Junior, both preceded him in death. Randolph was employed at the City of Long Beach as truck driver where he retired after 32 years of service.
As a saint, he represented the Christian virtues mandated by God. His life exemplified that of Christ and was a testimony for the kingdom of God.
In October, 1988, Randolph Johnson met Mae Dee Brown at church. On their first date, they attended a wedding of a friend. After sitting up all night talking to each other, they found out both wanted the same things out of life. In November, he proposed and the next month, on December 31, 1988, Randolph and Mae got married in a beautiful wedding ceremony. For the next 33 years, they worked together feeding the homeless on skid row for nine years, while simultaneously serving the seniors at the Colonial Care Center in Long Beach for twenty-six years, twice a month in Hospital Ministry. He was so kind, soft spoken, humble, caring, helpful, and always showing his wife that he cared. Randolph loved to travel whether it was going to Florida, New York, Las Vegas, Hawaii, the Bahamas, or Canada, he was most excited about going to Alabama because his sister and his brother lived there. When they got together, it was a great celebration. Heaven must be rejoicing now that they have all made it home where there is no more pain, no suffering, no heartaches, and no good-bye's. Randolph can say like 2-Timothy 4:7-8 says, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. Amen
