

Raymond GentryRaymond Dalton Gentry, age 97, of Hemet, CA, passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2010, at The Village Health Care Center in Hemet, CA. He was born November 8, 1913, in Pope County, AR, to George Washington Gentry and Mary Ella (Williamson) Gentry. After a hard time in Arkansas, the family moved to Sand Springs in 1918. Raymond graduated from Sand Springs High School in 1931 and from Oklahoma A&M College (now Oklahoma State University) in 1936 with a degree in chemical engineering, and was employed by A.H. Kerr Galss of San Springs that same year.When Kerr opened a new plant in Southern California in 1941, Raymond and several employees in the San Springs area moved with the company to California. Raymond retired from Kerr in 1975 as a vice president in engineering and environmental control after developing methods used to control industrial emissions, some of which are still in use today. Raymond spent several years consulting to the industry before finally retiring again about 1985.Raymond was proceeded in death by his parents, nine brothers and sisters, and his wife Ruth Mildred (Hall) Gentry, originally of Stillwater. He is survived by two sons, Larry Gentry of Sand Springs, Mike Gentry and his wife Linda of Sacramento, a stepson Wayne Rash of Santa Ana, and his second wife Jean (Rash) Gentry of Hemet, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.He was respected and liked by his peers and much loved by his family. A good man, he will be greatly missed.Arrangements are being handled by Miller - Jones Mortuary & Crematory - Hemet, 1501 W. Florida Avenue, Hemet, CA.
