Richard Gay Luebben

He was born in Long Beach California on November 17, 1923, and raised by his parents and grandparents where he lived in Long Beach, Eagle Rock, Pasadena, Arcadia and Hollywood Hills. He attended the John Brown Military Academy in Pacific Beach where he received his High School Education and ROTC training. He entered the Navy in 1942 as a student at USC and was trained in Communication Electronics, then deployed to Rabat, Morocco where he operated and maintained a classified radio transmitter that sent brief digital messages to Washington, DC. He completed his college education at John Brown University, Siloam Springs, AR.

His working life included 10 years with Ryan Aeronautical, his own business, Matrix Electronics, and 23 years with TRW Systems, Redondo Beach where he worked on power systems for satellites such as the Pioneer and Voyager space craft during the race to the moon. He was an accomplished pilot, flew with the Flying Samaritans, flying Doctors, dentists and pharmacists into Baja California for weekend free clinics. In retirement he continued with his love of mathematics and computers, consulted at USC, taught grade school students computer, computerized his local church, and developed his own system for analyzing the stock market.

He married his wife of 70 years, Joyce Lorraine Grooms (1927-2016) in 1947, who gave him 3 Sons and a Daughter, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. They had residences in Lakeside, San Diego, and Rancho Palos Verdes.

He was always a positive optimistic thinker, eager to talk with anyone about philosophy, mathematics, life’s experiences and the Bible, as an accurate account of God the Creators Universe.
