

Richard Simmonds, 77, passed on August 6, 2012, in hospice care, at his daughter's home in Chino. He was born in Chicago, IL, and grew up in the Greater Los Angeles area, settling in Glendora, Montclair, and finally Sun City, CA.
Richard is survived by his first wife Dr. Arlene Simmonds, daughter Stacy Woolman and husband David Woolman, daughter Susie Kerzner, grandaughter Samantha Van Stratten, grandson Ashton Kerzner and joins his son Scott Simmonds in heaven. Also surviving Richard is Scott's daughter and Richard's grandaughter Kimberly Simmonds. He is also survived by his wife Kathleen Simmonds, son Wallace Eddy and wife Valerie Eddy, and grandson Wallace Jr.; daughter Shannon Haas; grandsons Brandon and Matthew Spangler; brothers Durward Priebe and Alvin Sterling.
Richard held a Masters Degree in History, and spent his professional life as a school teacher. He served both in the Naval Reserve Submarine Division and Army. He earned his private pilots license, and was for most of his life an avid builder of model aircraft and ships. He was so well versed in world history, that given a name or incident, could share incredibly detailed stories, all from memory.
