Ricky L. McDonald was born to the union of Evelyn and Carl McDonald on January 23, 1953. His mother preceded him in death. From a very early age Ricky was fun and full of life. He was known for playing the flute and for his fast karate moves. He was also known for knowing and loving the Lord, which he accepted at a very young age.
His toughness was developed at an early age due to his small stature. He demonstrated his strength both physically and mentally. Anyone that knew him can attest to the fact that he courageously fought many life battles and never gave up. He fought cancer to the very last moment.
He was educated by the Los Angeles Unified School District and worked for Revere Transducers for 5 years prior to becoming a dedicated Security Guard for which he worked for over the last 20 years. He NEVER called off of work nor was he ever late. He loved what he did and he loved to share stories of his encounters while at work. HIS STORIES WERE EPIC.
He leaves to mourn his wife of 25 years, Tana, affectionately known as "Baby", five children, Rickey McDonald and life partner, Fili Lewis of Sacramento, CA; Sabrina Luttrell of Fairview Height, IL; Adriana Morris of Las Vegas, NV; George Jones of Hammond, IN and Casey Jones of Moreno Valley, CA, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He also leaves his father, Carl McDonald and his beloved mom, Eva McDonald preceded him in death. He leaves four brothers, Bryon Avery, Albert (Mary) Avery, Anthony (Iris) Avery, and Gregory (Jane) McDonald. Two brothers, Dana and Andre Avery, preceded him in death. He leaves four sisters, Simone McDonald , Tina (Warren) Rugley, Reiko McDonald and Crystal McDonald. He leaves two special friends, Gary (Marilyn) Bentley and Otto McNeil, a host of other family and friends.
