Dear Dad, You use to share with me about the first time you saw me. You held me in your arms & as you looked down I looked up & opened my eyes & looked at you & then closed them again. We had 62 years 5 months & 29 days together. I was fortunate enough to have my last moments with you nearly the same as we began. I said"I love you, Dad" you looked up at me & said "I love you, Bonnie"& then you closed your eyes for a bit. Those were our last words together. The remaining time were hand squeezes from your soft, big hands. You taught me so many things through our years together. From ice skating on the frozen ponds in Pa. to how a gentlman should walk with a lady to horseshoes to parking a car & numerous others. I love you, Dad & I am so grateful for all the years we had together. You have left quite a legacy here on this earth. Let Bryan know that we miss & love him & give my"honey" a big hug for me. Until we meet again one day, I love you & thanks for all the wonderful memories. Your daughter, Bonnie

My Dad's love of poetry
The following is an excerpt from Song of Hiawatha, Hiawatha's Departure. Dad I know how much you enjoyed reading this poem. I can see you sitting in my living room and you read some of it aloud to me. It is a beautiful poem by Longfellow. Here is a favorite part of mine in honor of you..



By the shore of Gitche Gumee,
By the shining Big-Sea-Water,
At the doorway of his wigwam,
In the pleasant Summer morning,
Hiawatha stood and waited.
All the air was full of freshness,
All the earth was bright and joyous,
And before him, through the sunshine,
Westward toward the neighboring forest
Passed in golden swarms the Ahmo,
Passed the bees, the honey-makers,
Burning, singing in the sunshine.
Bright above him shone the heavens,
Level spread the lake before him;
From its bosom leaped the sturgeon,
Sparkling, flashing in the sunshine;
On its margin the great forest
Stood reflected in the water,
Every tree-top had its shadow,
Motionless beneath the water.
From the brow of Hiawatha

Daddy, You will forever be in my heart and thoughts. I am so proud to have loved and been loved by such a wonderful man. From my very beginning you have been my teacher and my example for all that I have tried to become. You were our family's provider and strength. I am forever thankful of all that you have given and taught me. I love you Daddy,forever you daughter, Jannie.

Pappy
Pappy I have so many memories as a child that I will remember because of you. The hours we would sit outside and play round after round of horseshoes only to realize I could only beat you 1 out of 5 times. As the years went by I learned your technique on throwing the shoe and still to this day throw the shoe the same as you! I will never forget that. The times we used to take hikes up in the hills with Clementine, your wonderful beagle that everyone loved, except maybe her bark sometimes! :0) I remember how you used to hope she would catch those rabbits when you let her off the leash! She would have made a good hunting dog. On those hikes I remember you taking me up there to watch the airshows from March air force base to see the thunderbirds fly and you knew every plane. The competitions of who could hit golf balls the furthest out the back of your house in Perris. Another great memory I have with you is sharing our first beer together in Oregon when we surprised Aunt Jan that one summer! That was the time you grew your beard out and Hallie answered the door and told Aunt Jan " Mom there's some old man outside that wants to talk to you!" Those are the priceless moments I am thankful I got to see. And my favorite memory I will always have is the strength of your hands! No matter how hard I tried your handshake was always stronger than mine! At least up until a couple of years ago! :0) Pappy, you have raised one heck of a family over the years! A family that is full of LOVE! A family that sings songs, plays music, and just gets REALLY silly because of YOU! You will forever be in my heart! Give your grandson Bryan a hug for me! And tell that son in law of yours, my dad, that I miss and love him SO much everyday! The days get really tough sometimes, but I know in the end God has a plan for us! I know we will see each other again someday and until then I say "I love you! And thank you for the memories!"
