Robert was born on March 30th, 1923 in York, Pennsylvania to Cletus & Gazella Bosserman. He was one of their 14 children which included 11 daughters and 3 sons, Robert being the youngest son. Both of Robert's parents passed away when he was a very young boy and so he went on to live and attend school at the Hershey Industrial school, which at the time was a home for boys developed by M.S. Hershey. Soon after graduating from Hershey he enlisted in the Army Air Core from 1942 - 1947.
After leaving the service he met Luella L. Thomas and they were married in York, PA in 1949. In 1963 Robert moved his family west and resided in Southern California where all his family still remains.
All of Robert's siblings have preceded him in death, however, Robert is survived by his wife of 63 years and his 3 daughters, Bonnie Weisz of Redlands, CA, Jan Tait of West Linn, Or., and Jeanne Morales of Ontario, CA. He also leaves behind 5 granddaughters and 3 grandsons, 1 grandson preceeded him in death on Jan. 2, 2011. In addition he leaves behind 3 great-granddaughters, and 3 great-grandsons.
Robert loved his family and always enjoyed the times when we were all together. In his early years he enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing. In his later years he would enjoy times of playing horseshoes with his friends and grandchildren.
A celebration of his life service will be held on Jan. 5, 2013 at 1:00 in the afternoon at Perris Congregational Church and his final resting place will be at the National Cemetery in Riverside, CA.
Robert will be greatly missed by his family and many who also had the privilege to know and love him. He leaves behind in our memory not only a legacy of songs and stories that are both humorous and meaningful to us but also a life lived with love, integrity and well being for his family and friends.
We his family take comfort in knowing that he now is in the presence of the Lord and we look forward to the day when we will see him again.
