Robert Elmer Eury

Bob was born in 1926 to Emma E. Hinson and Robert Eury in Albemarle, North Carolina. He was born and raised on a farm and in 1944 he joined the Navy. Bob was a veteran of WWII, Korea and Vietnam, serving three tours of duty in three separate wars. During his military career he was assigned to the USS Mississippi, USS Preston, USS Lake Champlain, USS Yorktown and the USS Midway. Bob received many commendations and medals during his career. He retired after 27 years of service to his country in 1971. After retirement he was continually on the Dean’s List as he attended college in Long Beach, California and worked for the U.S Postal Service. Thereafter, he retired and moved to Sun City. During his retirement, Bob played golf, he belonged to a car club and rebuilt antique cars. He also managed the North Golf Course in Sun City and enjoyed camping and traveling.

Bob was married to Nancy Sue Fowler in 1948 until her death. They raised four children, Curtis Edward Eury (1949-2016), Darlene Eury-Black, Robert Conrad Eury and Carolyn Frances Eury and Bob was blessed with many grand and great-grandchildren. He married Virginia Hann in 1993 until her death. Bob is survived by his wife, Gale Creighton Eury.
