

Robert “Bob” McClung passed away at the age of 84 on Saturday, January 11, 2020, in Riverside, California. He was born to the late Francis “Frank” Hill McClung and the late Lois Marie (Prescott) McClung, on Monday, June 17, 1935 in Whittier, California. He was raised in Artesia, California.
When Bob was 12 days old, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles saved his life by performing a major surgery on him. He graduated from Excelsior High School in 1953 and attended Long Beach City College for a 1 ½ year. At the age of 20 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served from 1955 – 1957. Bob was very patriotic and loved the American Bald Eagle. He customized his 1965 Ranchero in a patriotic theme. He belonged to the Valley Cruisers of Hemet car club, in Hemet. Bob had a smile that would light up the room. Wherever he went, he took the time to get acquainted with everyone. He had a very good sense of humor and his storytelling was the best. He enjoyed traveling the world and even traveled to all 50 States. His favorite place was being right next to his lovely wife, Barbara. Bob was a member of the Bellflower Chapter Order of Demolay and the Artesia Sunrise Masonic Lodge. He was a loving, caring, and a kind soul who will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Bob met the love of his life, his best friend, Barbara Anne McClung, in Los Angeles in 1954 and the two were married in 1957. They were blessed with 62 years of marriage. They share the same birthday. He was blessed with 3 caring children, Rick (Valerie) McClung, Sherry (Ray) Wilson, and Russ McClung; 5 wonderful grandchildren, Robert (Tessa), Ian, Samantha, Melissa (Jonathan), and Ryan; a beautiful great-granddaughter, Riley; and his amazing nephew, Craig Prosser. Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Prosser.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Miller-Jones Mortuary, located at 1501 W. Florida Avenue Hemet, CA 92543, with a Reception to follow in the Ramona Room at the same location. A private interment will take place on a later date.
