Robert Marion Slater, 79 of Hemet, California passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Ramona Rehabilitation in Hemet, California. He was born Sunday, December 1, 1935 in Santa Monica, California and was the son of the late Henry and Katherine (Attaway) Slater. He was a member of the US Army and served for 2 years. Robert loved to fish, play tennis and basketball. He was always active and loved to be in the outdoors. His profession for over 20 years was working as a printer-type setter for the Los Angeles Times. Aboard his catamaran, he was known to sale to Catalina Island. He loved the challenge of crossing the channel. Robert considered himself an excellent neighbor and a good Samaritan. He loved to cook and was known for his beef jerky by his nieces and friends. Robert is described by family as an great story teller. He is survived by his sister, Margaret McCloud, nieces Christine Perez, and Frances Cushman, and many other nieces and nephews.
