Roger Dale Snyder, 83 years old from Hemet, CA, was a servant. He served his country as an Aircraft Repairman in the United States Marine Corps from September 1, 1954 to August 31, 1957 and was honorably discharged as a Corporal. He served his community as an active member and leader of the Elks club, Lions club, little league teams, and by fostering and caring for countless children in San Diego and Riverside. He enjoyed helping anyone who needed it, any time, but the most important acts of service that he showed were to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his local church family at Hemet Christian Assembly.
He loved, guided, and showed compassion to his family. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Evelyn V. Snyder of Hemet, CA. Their daughter, Jill Barto of El Cajon, CA. Two of their children, Bernard Snyder of Hemet, CA and Lynell Frye of National City, CA preceded him in death. Their grandchildren Justin, Jame', Denise, Dane, and William. Their great-granddaughter Zoe. His parents, Roscoe and Estellene Snyder of Winslow, Indiana, and sisters June Walker, Mary Lou Hammond, and Sheena Carpenter preceded him in death. He is also survived by one aunt, Mary Jane Rhodes, a brother, Richard Snyder, and several nieces and nephews.
He had a sense of adventure in everything that he did. He was born in Winslow, Indiana and moved between there, Michigan, and California multiple times. He worked for years at Straza Inc., was a supervisor for Nassco Steel and Shipbuilding, and finally a phone technician for Hemet Unified School District until he retired. Needless to say, if anything was broken, he could fix it! He greatly enjoyed camping and traveling with his friends and family and seeing the sites anywhere they would go.
He passed away at 6:40 P.M. on August 26, 2020, at Riverside University Health Medical Center. He was recovering from a broken femur and head injury when he contracted Influenza A and sadly he did not recover from that illness. But there is great comfort in knowing that his faith in Jesus Christ allowed him to have his sin be no more in the sight of God. “My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for [those of] the whole world. - 1 John 2:1-2 NASB”
The family is planning a viewing from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. on October 5th at Hemet Christian Assembly Church. The Celebration of Life/Graduation Service will take place on October 10th with a reception immediately following at Hemet Christian Assembly Church. A private burial will take place at Miramar National Cemetery on October 6th.
Arrangements are being made with Miller-Jones Mortuary in Hemet, CA.
