Sondra Diane Moon, 85, born in Huntington Park California to Albert Russell and Diane Bilor Griffith, returned to be with her Lord and Savior in Heaven on April 22, 2019. She passed from this life at her residence at The Lakes in Banning, California.
She was raised in the small town of Basin, Wyoming along with her siblings, Russell Griffith and Christine Ellison (Griffith). There was never a dull moment in the Griffith household as it was filled with love, laughter, creativity and mischief.
While attending Colorado Women’s College, she met Donald Guarascio whom she married in 1953. They were blessed with 2 children, Steven and Dawn (Yruretagoyena) whom she cherished and provided for with great care and love. She often felt she was lacking in her mothering skills but testimonies from her children and the memories they carry within their hearts and minds tell of a woman with deep love, devotion, creativity, talents, skills and good humor. In 1976 they divorced and in 1977, she married her Prince Charming, best friend, and the love of her life, Robert Shryl Moon. They spent 36 years together enjoying camping, working together on their home, entertaining family and friends, and growing in faith with their brethren from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They worked tirelessly in sharing the Good News of the Gospel both through word and deed. Robert Shryl Moon preceded her in death in 2014. The sorrow she felt was softened by her adoption of her precious little dog, Rudy. His unconditional love enriched her life and brought her great joy.
Sondra especially loved her role as Nana. She always created a warm, welcoming and accepting environment for her grandchildren, Sarah, Aubrhe, Emily (Yruretagoyena), Jenna, Kelly (Guarascio), and Rob Moon. Although miles prevented them from having regular weekly visits, she always made them feel loved and cherished and learning how to use the Marco Polo app on her phone was a real treat for her and them.
Sondra was a multi-talented woman that successfully combined a tomboy nature with a flair for elegance, beauty, passion, silliness and vivaciousness. She loved cooking, crafting, gardening, learning new things, Japanese food, the beach, her country home in Utah, being a wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend.
All who knew her were touched by her positive, cheerful outlook even as she faced an unexpected illness that would close the doors on the many things that were on her “to do list”.
This wonderful woman has left a permanent mark etched on our hearts and will be supremely missed. Please join us in celebrating her life on May 4, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 1120 De Anza Drive, San Jacinto, CA 92582
