

Stanley Chungking Kong of Garden Grove, CA, passed away Monday, December 29, 2014, at his daughter Valerie's home in Temecula, CA. Stan was born July 11, 1941, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Stanley and Etta Lee Kong.
Stan graduated from McKinley High School and then served three years in the Army from 1962-1965, including service in Vietnam. Upon his return from Vietnam, he attended Aircraft Mechanic School, graduated and started his career as an airline mechanic. He worked for American Airlines for over 32 years when he eventually retired. Stan was an avid member of the Islander's Rod & Gun Club with whom he took many fishing trips. He also enjoyed working on vintage cars, especially restoring Hot Rods, cooking various Hawaiian dishes for friends, and spending time with his family.
Stan is survived by his longtime partner, Emy Sakamoto; daughter Valerie Haggard and her husband Dave of Temecula; sons, Kevin Kong of Torrance, and Corey Kong and wife Kathryn of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; five grandchildren, Justin and Tyler Haggard, Ted and Alyssa Kong, and Kirra Kong; also sisters Mary Kaeo, Rosie Lum, Toni Woolley, Patricia Lopez, and brother, Richard Lopez, all of Hawaii; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Stan's Life will be held from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm, Sunday, January 18, 2015, at the Orange County Buddhist Church Social Hall, 909 S. Dale Ave, Anaheim, CA 92804. All family and friends are welcome.
