Takuma Tek Tanaka

Age 76 of Moreno Valley , California passed away on March 12, 2011, in Ontario , California . He was born on December 1, 1934 in Los Angeles , California , to Shigeru and Yoshi Tanaka.

Tek began his 41-year public service career with the California Division of Highways, District 8. He took educational leave and proudly served in the United States Army. He returned to District 8 for 14 years before moving to the Riverside County Road & Survey Department where he held positions as a Construction Engineer, Road Administrative Engineer and was appointed Deputy Road Commissioner which became Deputy Director of Transportation. He was a great asset to the department and retired in 1995.

Tek enjoyed exerting his charm on one and all. Always vibrant and energetic. He had a great sense of humor and was able to make most people laugh and smile. He will truly be missed by his family and friends.

Tek was preceded in death by his wife Sumiko. He is survived by his daughters, Lori Tanaka and Jill Tanaka; son, Steven (Denise) Tanaka; brother, Yutaka (Jeannie) Tanaka; sister, Seiko Buckingham; 2 granddaughters, Maya & Isabella Tanaka and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Miller-Jones Moreno Valley Mortuary located at 23618 Sunnymead Blvd Moreno Valley, California 92553 where a Memorial Service will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 16, 2011 Inurnment will be privately held.
