William Richard Wood

He was born to William and Mildred Wood on February 15, 1929 in Saxonburg, Pennsylvania. Woody graduated from high school and served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict, where he acquired the nickname “Woody.” He used the electronics training he received in the military in his subsequent employment and when he started his own business designing and building custom transformers for the electronics industry.

He was married to Patricia Joan (Kinsella) Wood, the mother of his eight children, for over thirty years. She passed away in 1993 after their divorce. His second wife, Wilma, preceded him in 2007. He is survived by his dear friend Kate Kaylor.

Woody is survived by his six daughters, Judith Calora, of Cameron Park, California, Mary (Guy) Arlet, of Homer, Alaska, Debra (David) Jones, of Quincy, California, Margaret (Chris) Quihuiz, of Yorba Linda, Tina Wood (Eric Mathews) of Hemet, CA, and Virginia (Tim) Mangold of Hemet, California. His surviving elder son, William Richard (JoAnne) Wood, Jr, lives in Hemet, California. His younger son, Robert Wood, predeceased him in 2012. Woody was the fourth of five children. His surviving sisters are Doris Whittingstall, of Butler, PA, and Jane Romano, of Zephyrhills, FL. He was predeceased by his brother Robert Wood and sister Evelyn Stutz.

Woody’s legacy includes 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Woody was an active member of the San Jacinto Valley community for decades after relocating his business from Orange, CA to San Jacinto in 1979. He participated in many civic organizations, including the San Jacinto Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, The Eagles, and The Elks. He enjoyed reading, solving jigsaw puzzles, dancing, and chatting with friends new and old.

A Memorial Service will be held at McWane Family Funeral Home, 350 N. San Jacinto St., Hemet, CA 92546 on Friday, November, 22 at 11 am. A reception will follow.
