Yvonne Campbell

Yvonne Campbell, age 90, of Corona, California died of complications from advanced Pancreatic Cancer on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at her grandson's home in Riverside, California. She was born on December 22, 1926, in Fullerton California to John and Narcissa Adams. A child of the Great Depression, her family lived a modest but happy life. She grew-up and went to school in Orange County and married shortly after high school. She and her husband, John Campbell, had two children; Karen Marie Campbell and Christine Dee Campbell. They divorced after 7 years of marriage.

As both a wife and single mother, Yvonne held several jobs as she searched for her true passion. During that time, she worked in retail, food service, a doctor's office, and managed a yardage store for several years! She even worked at the Frontierland Outpost in Disneyland for a while! Eventually she settled into a position with the Orange County Welfare Dept. as a Caseworker. After several years with Orange County, Yvonne accepted a position with the Riverside County Welfare Department. She commuted for a time, but then decided to relocate to Riverside County and bought a home in Corona. While working for the Riverside County Welfare Dept. Yvonne was a Medi-Cal Caseworker and then a Program Specialist in Administration before she found her true passion as Regional Manager. During her many years as Regional Manager, Yvonne managed several district offices including: Corona, Arlington, Rubidoux and Elsinore. She was often the one sent in to clean-up a bad situation and was very effective at her job! After years of dedicated service, Yvonne retired from the County at age 55!

Throughout her life, Yvonne enjoyed many interests, including: Classic and Modern Theater; Ballet; Classical Music; Antiquing, especially Depression Glass; and several crafts. She was an avid gardener and was quite proud of the backyard Eden she created. She was a life-long lover of all animals and always had a faithful pet by her side. Her cat, Sophie, was with her until the very end.

Known as "Gagi" to her family, Yvonne was preceded in death by her two children: Christine Campbell of Costa Mesa, California in 2007; and Karen Campbell of Corona, California in 2011. She is survived by her 3 grandchildren, Michelle Long of Hueytown, Alabama; Kimberly Thompson of Prescott Valley, Arizona; and Richard McIntosh of Riverside, California; 7 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
