

Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather, Alexander Joseph Carmichael Jr., peacefully passed away at home in Henderson, Nevada, surrounded by family on August 24, 2014 after a heroic 7 year fight with cancer. He was 88. Alex was born to Ida and Alexander Carmichael Sr. on October 5th, 1925 in Seattle, Washington. He was a 1943 graduate of Cleveland High School in Seattle, Washington, where he enjoyed playing soccer and football, leading his teams to many victories. Later after graduation, Alex served in World War II and was a proud U.S. Marine. Once out of the Marines he moved to Las Vegas, where he would meet his soon to be wife, Alice Smith, and start his family. He joined the Local 88 Sheet Metal Union, where he would spend the rest of his professional life. He had a couple jobs he really enjoyed which were working in Alaska on the Oil Pipeline and also out at the River in Laughlin. Even after retiring at the age of 58, Alex loved to create projects to work on, such as expanding his home. He really enjoyed Soccer, Football, Golfing and Baseball. His favorite past time was playing pool while watching the 49er’s on Sunday’s. He enjoyed watching Jeopardy while having dinner at his daughter Joannes house. He loved to go to breakfast with his honey at Green Valley Ranch and play poker afterward. The apple of his eye was his grandchildren, and He love to spend time with them. Alex was a fun and loving person who touched the lives of everyone he met, donated to many charities every month and a family man who focused all his energy towards making sure his family had everything they needed and that they were happy and safe. He will be extremely missed by all. Left to carry on his memory is his wife of 42 years, Alice Carmichael, two daughters, Elizabeth Field and Joanne Carmichael, his four grandchildren, Amanda, Joey, Jade, and JazLynn and his brother of Washington, Richard Carmichael. Proceeding him in death is his mother Ida Elizabeth Carmichael, father Alexander Joseph Carmichael and sister Irene Carmichael. His family will honor him with a celebration of his life starting with a viewing on Sunday, August 31, 2014 3:00 – 7:00pm and a service on Monday, September 1st , at 10:00am followed by a reception, located at Palm Mortuary at 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, Nevada 89015.
