

Alexander "Sandy" M. Izzo, age 83, of Henderson, Nevada passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2025. Sandy was born in Glen Cove, New York to his parents Angelo and Bessie Izzo. Sandy was raised in Oyster Bay, New York with his younger brother, Frank. In his youth, he was very active participating in sports and spending time with his friends. In high school, Sandy played football, and ran track-in-field. He was also a member of the French Club and the Varsity Club. Sandy graduated from Oyster Bay High School in 1959.
After graduation, Sandy enlisted in the US Air force. He served honorably in Radio and Communications. During his enlistment, Sandy was stationed in Texas, Germany, and California. He completed his tour of duty, achieving the rank of Airman First Class, and received the Air Force Longevity Service Award, and a Good Conduct Medal.
Following his honorable discharge from active duty, Sandy went back to school to continue his education. He attended Nassau Community College where he earned his Associates Degree in Business Management prior to attended Hofstra University where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business.
To support his growing family; Sandy worked as a marketing manager for LILCO, a Utility Company. In 1991, Sandy would marry the love of his life, Darlene Anne McDermott on February 15th in Oyster Bay, New York. Together the couple would blend their lives and families and embark on a journey that would span over the next 34 years. Sandy continued to worked for LILCO retiring in 1998 after 35 Years.
In retirement, Sandy's new life involved relocating to Las Vegas, Nevada. Retirement provided more time for him to spend with his family as well as make many new friends. He enjoyed taking trips to Mystic Connecticut; as well as the Amish Country in Pennsylvania. Sandy was also a sports fan. He loved to support his fighting Irish of Notre Dame; as well as his New York Mets and New York Jets sports teams. In his leisure time; when he wasn't volunteering as a crossing guard; to make supporting his teams more interesting; Sandy could be found at the sportsbook at his favorite hotel and casino, Sunset Station.
Sandy was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who loved his family dearly. He was a proud patriot, and lived life to the fullest; he will truly missed.
A visitation for Sandy will be held Monday, March 10, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 11, 2025 beginning at 10:00 AM both at Palm Henderson Mortuary, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015. Sandy will be laid to rest with military honors in Palm Henderson Cemetery, in Henderson, Nevada.
