

Alfred was born on July 20, 1947, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He met the love of his life, Sally Jacoby, in 1965, and they were married on July 31, 1968. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and family.
In his early years, Alfred was among the first to join Nevada’s Job Corps program in Carson City, where he trained to become a mechanic—a story that was even featured in a local newspaper. His determination to work hard and build a better life was evident from a young age and continued throughout his lifetime.
Alfred owned Vegas Valley Nursery & Maintenance, where he worked tirelessly and took great pride in his craft. Later, he continued his career in landscaping with Sedillo, KM&I, Gothic, and Sun City. His dedication, reliability, and skill earned him the respect and admiration of everyone he worked with.
He had a deep passion for hot rod cars and NASCAR racing and cherished every moment spent with his family and grandchildren. Alfred also enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing keno, and cheering on his favorite team—the Denver Broncos.
Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, Manuela Medina and Alfred Charles Watkins Sr., and by his sisters Mildred Hermosillo, Mary Fatula, and Maria Rodriguez.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sally Watkins, and their children: Christopher Watkins, Sherry Ralston (preceded in death by her husband Michael Ralston), Rick Watkins (Jennifer Watkins), Gary Watkins (Tammy Watkins), and Dionea Watkins-Girten (David Girten). He is also survived by his sisters Manuela Brambila, Mary Kathy Alderman, and Yvonne Meraz and his brothers Felipe Lucero and Jose Orlando Lucero.
Alfred leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy and pride to his life.
Alfred will be remembered for his strong work ethic, kind heart, and unwavering love for his family. His presence will be deeply missed but forever cherished by all who knew him.
A visitation for Alfred will be held Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Palm Mortuary - Henderson, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015, funeral service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. The burial will from 2:00 PM to 2:30 at Palm Boulder Highway Cemetery, with reception from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM.
