

Bill is survived by his wife, of 50 years, Nancy Rahe Ruth, his son, Kevin Ruth, and daughter Karen Ruth Rutz, his grandchildren, Indy Ruth, Otis Ruth, Remy Ruth, Kacey Rutz and Kori Rutz, his sisters Maryann Hagerty of Davenport, Florida and Patsy Mondin, of Steubenville, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his sister Kathy Mertz, of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Bill was born on 12/16/1934 in Steubenville, Ohio to his parents Fae and Mary Ruth. He graduated from Catholic Central HS, Mercersburg Academy, Brandeis University, University of Steubenville, University of Dayton and Northern Arizona University. He was an outstanding athlete in football, wrestling and baseball at all schools he attended. Bill served in the United States Marine Corp. and spent 3 years in the Monastery.
In 1968, he moved to Henderson, Nevada and accepted a position as a teacher for the Clark County School District. He taught, coached and always searched for fights to break up at Indian Springs HS, Western HS and Basic High School for more than 25 years.
Bill was a socially active man who was deeply involved in church, sports and community service. He enjoyed all sports, oil painting, fishing and traveling.
His family and friends will always remember him as a lengthy and at times inappropriate storyteller.
His final years were spent enjoying his five grandchildren and their many activities.
Bill was a kind, funny, giving friend to everyone he met. He was a devoted husband, a great dad and wonderful Papa. He will be missed by all who knew him.
