Calvin "Cal" Metcalf

Calvin "Cal" Metcalf, age 84, of Henderson, Nevada passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024. Cal was born on April 24, 1939 in Lawrence, Massachusetts to his parents Calvin Edgar Buxton Metcalf and Doris Irene Metcalf (Sutcliffe). He graduated from Andover High School in 1958, and went on to enlist in the US Coast Guard for two years of honorable service.

Following his service, Cal went to work for New England Power Company until 1963. He then went to work for the town of Andover working in the Tree Department until 1968.

In 1968, Cal transferred to the Andover Police Department. While serving as a police officer, Cal continued his education earning his Associate of Science Degree in Law Enforcement from Northeastern University. He further went on to earn his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Massachusetts. In addition, during his career, Cal received a Life Saving Medal from the Andover Police Department, a Medal of Honor from the Andover Fire Department, and an official citation from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the state Senate for his life saving recognition. Cal Retired from the Andover Police Department in 1997, after 34 years of honorable and faithful service to the Town of Andover.

In 1998, Cal and his wife relocated to Henderson, Nevada. In retirement, he was able to enjoy more time with his daughter, and his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing card games like uno, 45's, family game nights, working on jigsaw puzzles, and tending to his garden. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching westerns. Cal was known as Mr. Fixit to his family and friends; lending a helping hand to anyone that needed it. Always wanting to keep busy and involved; in 2003, he went back to work for the Clark County Museum under Parks and Recreation until is passing.

Cal was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Janet Bean. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marie; his son, Michael; his daughter, Lisa and her husband, Kevin; his three grandchildren: Laura, Sean, and Daniel Molloy. his brother, Robert C Metcalf, Sr.; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Cal will be held Thursday, April 25, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Palm Mortuary - Henderson, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015. additional services will be held back in Massachusetts, where he will eventually be laid to rest.
