
Daniel Vance McLeod. age 78, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on April 11, 2019 at St Rose Sienna Hospital. He was born August 6, 1940 in Tonopah, Nevada to Daniel Alexander McLeod and Helen Maroney McLeod. He graduated from Basic High School in Henderson, NV in 1958 and served in the National Guard following high School. He attended college in Las Vegas and started his career in Marketing for the Jockey Club in Las Vegas and, later, the Dunes Hotel. After a few years, he was hired by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and was based in Washington, D.C. for several years, working with members of Congress and their staff members on legislative issues important to the business operations of the Las Vegas Convention Visitors Authority. While employed by the LV Convention and Visitors Authority, Danny met and married the love of h is life, Sharon McLeod, who passed away in 2018.
As his career moved ahead, Danny worked for the Hershey Candy Company and later the State of Maryland promoting that State’s travel and visitors industry. Following several years with the state of Maryland, his next employment was with several American Indian Gambling Casinos, helping to promote their Gaming Operations. Always innovative, Danny promoted Classic Car Shows in Nevada as well as other states. He was well known and respected by many in the travel and gaming industry. During his lifetime, Danny was gifted in meeting and assisting people from many walks of life and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Danny is survived by his mother, Helen M. McLeod, of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister, Sheila M. Solomon and her husband, John, of Prescott, Arizona and many cousins, nieces and nephews and other family members.
A memorial service for Danny will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Palm Mortuary, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, Nevada 89015. Following the memorial service, a gathering will be held at the Henderson Masonic Lodge, 480 Greenway Road, Henderson, Nevada.
In lieu flowers, gifts to the Shriners Hospitals for Children would be greatly appreciated by the family.
