"Dolly" Medina

Dolly was born in the Philippines to the late Ramon Alberto and Twanna McClure. However, she was raised by John Glenn McQuay who was the only Father she knew.

Dolly married Rene Medina on November 4, 1950. They had 5 children: Twanna, married to Dillard Gould; Angeline (Gigi) first married to Roger Alcantara, deceased; now married to Rene Guzman; Christine, married to Guillermo Lapus, Rene Luis Medina, married to Charo Maramara and Josephine Ann, married to Jodie Campbell. Dolly has 5 grandchildren: Akeem, Devin, and Esther Gould; Roger William Alcantara; and Carlos Luis Medina. She has 3 great grandchildren: Elijah Gould, Liam Alcantara and Ace Stanton.

Since Dolly was widowed in 1992, she has been the exemplary matriarch of the family. She was her children’s mentor, guide, and friend. She lived with each of her children at different times in her life, without complaining, making sure she helped with household chores. She baked the best tapioca pudding with peaches and lady fingers. We are all blessed to have seen first-hand what a truly loving Christ-like mom she was.

Her children could talk to her about anything. Mom would listen and when appropriate, would give us good advice. Dolly was gifted with a “servant’s heart”. For over 8 years, she attended the Vallejo Bible Church. Dolly was always available to help clean the Church, decorate and serve during events, visit people in the nursing home and was “on call” for prayers. Dolly spoke to everybody. She would engage in conversations with the homeless people along her walk to the Grocery Outlet. She was Christ-like in many, many ways.

Dolly’s Memorial service will be held at the Palm Boulder Chapel, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015 on March 29, 2024, at 10:00 am. The service will be officiated by Kurt Heckman, the current Pastor of the Vallejo Bible Church who knew Dolly for over 8 years.

The service will be live streamed and recorded for viewing on https://webcasting.cashmanpro.com/PBH/watchliveevent.cfm?eventID=226046 for the next 30 days. Donations may be made to your favorite charities in the name of Dolly Medina.

A memorial service for Dolly will be held Friday, March 29, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015.
