

Edward Jurado, age 79, of Henderson, Nevada passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024. He was born on September 15, 1944, in Van Nuys, California. Ed grew up in Canoga Park and attended High School in Southern California.
On September 18, 1961, Ed enlisted in the US Army. While serving in the US Army, Ed married his best friend and soulmate, Susan “My Love”, at a Civil Wedding on January 23, 1962, in New Hall, California, and started their family. Shortly afterward, Ed would be shipped out to Airborne School, and would serve honorably in the US Army in the 101st Airborne with C Company, 2nd Battalion Airborne 327th Infantry, Third US Army based in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. During his time in the military, Edward would also train as a boxer and compete as part of his job assignments. Ed continued training as an amateur boxer earning his Golden Gloves in the Bantamweight class. Ed would foster a generational love for the sport of boxing.
Ed was a true patriot and honorably discharged in 1964. Upon his discharge from active duty, Ed would relocate back to Southern California. It was there that he continued to raise their growing family with Susan, where they were blessed with four children. In 1977, Ed continued his education to obtain his General Contractor’s license, and eventually start up his Commercial Landscape Construction Company. He owned and operated his Commercial Landscape Construction Company from 1979 until 2009 when he would retire in Northern California. As well as a passion for horses developed, leading to his dream of owning thoroughbreds eventually taking him to the winner’s circle.
Ed was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, who loved his family and worked very hard for them. He had the most infectious smile, was kind and considerate with a great sense of humor. With his adventurous spirit, a true lover of animals and outdoors; fishing, camping, and creating his ultimate backyard oasis.
In 2012, Ed and Susan relocated to Henderson, Nevada. In retirement, he continued to enjoy the outdoors, tending to his yard, and spending time in his favorite hangout spot "Emerald Island Casino". Although taken too soon, Ed lived life to the fullest. He will always be in the hearts of his family and friends until they are all together again. For now, in the words of a great man; "See You Around Like a Donut!"
Ed was preceded in death by his mother, Ramona; and stepfather, Joe. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Susan Rose Jurado; his four children: Suzanna Chamberlain and her husband, Richard; Edward “Kurt” Jurado and his wife, Danise; Dwayne Jurado and his wife, Karen; and Victoria Lynch; seven grandchildren: Alex, Nic, Katie, Kegger, Garrick, Gabby, and RJ “Poppies”; five great grandchildren; and his fur babies: Pixie and Nella.
