Evelyn Minnie May Cacace

On Saturday, February 22, 2020, Evelyn Minnie May Cacace, “Minnie”, beloved mother, wife, sister, aunt, grandmother & great-grandmother, passed away peacefully, holding her daughter’s hands at the age of 85 years. Our sadness and grief is beyond words.

Minnie was born in 1934 to parents James & Lena Parks in Hawthorne California, one of five children. After completing high school, she became a secretary for a small aviation company named LA Air Service where she would meet her husband to be “Cy”. They were married over 66 years. They had one child, Caren.

Minnie had a great fondness & talent for homemaking, and was an accomplished cook, baker, gardener, seamstress, quilter & needlepoint artist (including cross-stitching, knitting, crochet, latch hook rug making and lace making). Her latest passion was “beading”. Her generosity of heart meant everyone in the family (and oftentimes grocery clerks, nail salon technicians & nurses) received handmade masterpieces over the years.

Another true passion of Minnie’s was genealogy. She spent many an hour mapping out all the branches of the family tree and collecting family letters, bibles and keepsakes, some dating back to the 1800s.

Minnie absolutely loved dogs. She raised several over the years starting when she was a young girl. She was an excellent trainer, and the labs she & Cy raised were notably very well behaved with Geisha, their first, also an excellent hunting dog. Geisha, Cinder & Lava were very blessed to have Minnie as a fur-mom.

She had a strong faith her entire life, though that faith only recently found outward expression in church fellowship. She instantly bonded with the wonderful members of the Boulder City Methodist Church and dearly loved the hymns and worship there.

Minnie traveled the world with her late husband Cy. She hiked & camped, fished & hunted, boated, & RV’d. She was never afraid of new adventures and made countless friends along the way, belonging to several clubs over the years, most recently, the Boulder City Senior Center where Minnie became one of the beloved “Bag Ladies” – making mats for the homeless out of discarded grocery bags.

But above all these interests, Minnie’s first love was family. Always trying to keep in touch – and maintain the ties. An increasingly difficult task in today’s fast moving & ever changing environment.

Minnie will be forever remembered by her daughter Caren and son-in-law Art, grandchildren Jessica Knox, Elaine Dolecek, Joe Wagner & Scott Lawrence, great-grandchildren Aidan and Laine Knox, and countless extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Cyril, parents Lena and James Parks, siblings Jimmie, Marilyn, Carolyn & Kenny, and dearest friends, Olive and Bill Benke.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Minnie & Cy may be made to the Boulder City Senior Citizens Center, 813 Arizona Street, Boulder City, Nevada, 89005.
