

Gerald Freudenberg, age 91, of Laughlin, Nevada passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2022. He was born on May 1, 1930 at On the way to the Mason City Hospital in Rockwell, Iowa to his parents George and Katherine Freudenberg. He was raised in Rockwell, Mason City, and eventually Los Angeles, California with two older brothers: George and Dub; and six older sisters: Mary, Ruth Ann, Margie, Janice, Betty, and Pat.
Gerald took part in a number of activities as a child. Like most children of his time, he enjoyed playing baseball and spending time with friends; but he shared in other interests as well. Gerald participated in 4-H, and served as an alter boy for his church, where he learned Latin. In his spare time he liked tinkering with telegraph parts, building go-carts, and sledding in the snow. His most childhood memorable achievements included picking a perfect football card.
Gerald graduated Cathedral High Los Angeles in 1948, where he enjoyed his courses in Geography and Mathematics. He was an "A" student, whom enjoyed learning and had a keen eye for details and factual information. Gerald also participated in Track and Field and enjoyed chasing the girls. Shortly after high school, Gerald decided on a direction for his life, and he began seminary school. This was short lived because he fell in love with who would be his future wife and mother of his children, Jeanette, and he decided he would not continue.
On October 2, 1950, Gerald enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the beginning of the Korea War. He served honorably, although not in Korea; Gerald was stationed in England, and at March AFB in Riverside, California. through his hardwork and dedication, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant.
While in the service, Gerald would continue to write letters home to Jeanette. In 1953, they would marry in Yuma Arizona which was his final year in the U.S. Air Force. Soon after they would start their family in Southern California. Shortly after his time in the service, Gerald would begin attending city college. As his family grew, Gerald had to leave school and start working to support his family. Together the couple were blessed with four children: Leslie, Paul, John and Jane. Their marriage would last for over 32 years.
Gerald worked as an accountant for many years. He began his career working for Librascope company. He then Worked for Parker and Hannafin, before finishing is working career with Genisco, retiring in 1992.
On January 25, 1985, Gerald would meet Margaret Juanita Clymer. On October 6, 1999, the couple shared in a Civil Wedding in Laughlin, Nevada. The couple shared 37 years together until Gerald's recent passing.
Gerald was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and great grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with his family. Retirement afforded Gerald more time for him to enjoy many different hobbies and interests. He remained active playing golf, shuffleboard, and ping pong. He also enjoyed billiards, and playing video poker in his favorite casinos. Gerald was also a big fan of sports and enjoyed watching his favorite teams whenever he got the opportunity. Tops on his list were college basketball and football, Dodgers Baseball, and horse racing. Prior to relocating to Nevada, Gerald enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and Tahoe, as well as his trip to to the Kentucky Derby.
Gerald was a man who lived life to the fullest. He loved his family, enjoyed good friends and sharing many wonderful memories. He remains devoted to his faith and was a trustworthy, pragmatic and caring person, the kind of man to whom everyone was drawn. He will truly be missed.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Margie Freudenberg; three children: Paul Freudenberg (Lori); John Freudenberg (Olivia); and Jane Smith (Kelly); two step children: Carolyn Giddens (Gary) and Geneva Wilson; sister, Pat Bamrick; eight grandchildren: Jordan Lacerte (Spence), Savannah Freudenberg, Nykia Freudenberg, Kyle Freudenberg, Sierra Freudenberg, Beau Garvey (Daisy), Leslie Garvey, and Sarah; six step grandchildren: Ron Schmidt (Vanessa), Don Pittman (Denise), Randy Mann, Steven Harer, Christopher Harer, Kirsten Keltner (Justin); two great granddaughters, Charlotte Garvey and Stella Garvey; eight step great grandchildren: Katie Klingaman, Lauren Pollaccia, Paris Pollaccia, BraceLynn Keltner, Hazel Keltner, Waylen Keltner, Samantha Pittman, and Olivia Pittman, his step great great grandson, Graham Nelson. He was preceded in death by his father, George Freudenberg; mother, Katherine Freudenberg; his former spouse and mother of his children, Jeanette Freudenberg; daughter, Leslie Freudenberg; siblings: George Freudenberg, Dub Freudenberg, Mary Ashland, Ruth Ann Derouin, Margie Burns, Janice Doyd, and Betty Meyer; and step daughter, Sharon Klingaman.
A visitation for Gerald will be held Friday, April 1, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 AM, both at Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015. Gerald will be laid to rest with military honors at Palm Henderson Cemetery at 12:00 PM,800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015.
