Gerald "Jerry" Gowen

Gerald “Jerry” Gowen, 88, of Henderson, Nevada, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2024. Born in Yuma, Colorado, on April 22, 1936, Jerry was the youngest of three children, the son of Bertha Moran Gowen and Henry Thomas Gowen. The family moved to Loveland, Colorado in 1947.

He and his wife of 44 years, Claudia Curran Gowen, were married on June 5, 1980, after meeting on January 5, 1980 at a local dance in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Claudia; his sister, Laura; sister-in-law, Rose; stepdaughter, Amy (Tony); and grandchildren Skyler (Mitchell) and Jack (Joscelyn). He was predeceased by his brother, Don and his parents Henry and Bertha.

Jerry attended Colorado State University, where he cultivated his lifelong passion for people and sales. A proud veteran, Jerry served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1961 working with a security clearance as a teletype technician. The majority of his time was spent in Okinawa, Japan.

Jerry had a remarkable career as a salesman in the automotive aftermarket, working for ATK and several other companies. His warm personality and genuine interest in others meant he never met a stranger, and he built countless lasting relationships over the years. In his later years, he worked as a courtesy driver for Lexus of Henderson, where he was beloved by both his customers and coworkers.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Jerry was an avid golfer, spending much of his free time on the course. He was also a passionate collector of knives and model cars, a hobby that brought him great joy. Jerry’s winning personality, generous spirit, and infectious laughter earned him numerous awards and the admiration of all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 28, 2024, at the home of Claudia Gowen from 1:00PM to 4:00PM.

Jerry will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His laughter, devotion, kindness and love of life will forever remain in our hearts.
