On April 24, 2017, Gwendolyn Diaz was called home from this world to be with the Lord. Gwendolyn (Gwen to family and friends) was born on September 18, 1948 in New Orleans, Louisiana, the only child of Victoria Cooper and the late Jerry Thompson. Gwen lived her life mainly in New Orleans, and married Edward Diaz in 1975. The couple had one son Edward Junior who died at 19 months old in 1981. Gwen was at times an Associate Broker for ACA Realty, as well as an agent for Gertrude Gardner Real Estate, and worked at the Federal Reserve Bank. Gwen briefly moved to Miami in 1993 to help her mother in the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew. She worked briefly for Dillard’s Department Stores at Dadeland Mall. Husband Edward died in 1998. In 2005, Hurricane Katrina severely damaged her home in Pontchartrain Park, and forced her relocation to Nevada. In Nevada Gwen worked for Dillard’s Department Stores at Galleria Mall in Henderson as a beauty analyst and fragrance specialist, receiving multiple awards in the process. She also secured a real estate license at Key Advantage Realty in Las Vegas. Gwendolyn is survived by loving parents mother Victoria G. Colin and father Wayne P. Colin; aunts Johnnie M. Odom and Rosemary Evans; several cousins; and many many good friends. Graveside services will be private. The family wishes to thank everyone for their kind words and prayers in this time of grief.
