Holly Lee Yurek, age 55, of Fort Bragg, California passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. She was born one of nine children on December 25, 1965 in Las Vegas, Nevada to her parents Gerald Lee and Joy Olivia Yurek. Holly was raised in Nevada by her father, and his wife Mikki, along with five of her younger siblings.
As a young girl, Holly was able to empathize and identify with a vast array of people and personality types, as she was born a free spirit. She was outgoing, energetic, and made friends easily. She had a winning smile and beautiful dimples. She liked water-skiing and dirt-bike riding. In her spare time, Holly liked doing arts and crafts such as making bracelets and coloring and giving them as gifts to family and friends.
In 1986, Holly married Brett Alan Standal, at a small chapel wedding in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together they had 6 children and 10 grandchildren. In the early years of raising their family, Holly and Brett loved providing an alternative lifestyle with adventures in homesteading and traveling. They relied on their resourcefulness to give their children the best lives they could. Family was always important to Holly. She was overjoyed and grateful to finally be able to reconnect with her first-born son a few years ago.
Holly was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, as well as cooking for them all. Holly loved fishing, being out in nature and caring for everyone she met. She loved all animals; both wild and domesticated; but her favorite was her Shepherd mix, Tank.
There was always a certain style and inventiveness to Holly. She was a dynamic, vibrant and self-expressive person, who was forever looking to celebrate the endless possibilities life had to offer. She always tried to make others take life less seriously, telling everyone life is only about love. She felt that as long as you had love, everything would be okay. She had a knack for being clever, creative and witty, and for others, was a joy to be around. Holly was always so accepting of everyone as she recognized only what was on the inside. When thinking of Holly's infectious laughter, all her love and hugs, and really the uniqueness of who she was; to say that she will be missed is an understatement.
Holly was preceded in death by her mother, Joy Olivia Brown; sister, Lorena Yurek; and the father of her children, Brett Alan Standal. She is survived by her children: J.D. Clark, Sara Phillips and her husband, Matthew, Heather Standal, Olaf Standal, and his wife, Renee, Louann Standal, Sky Standal, and Kayla Ek and her husband Jorge; her father, Gerald Yurek and his wife, Mikki; her siblings: Kellie Strawn, Jerry Yurek, Jennifer Wansik, Darcy Yurek, Larry Yurek, Julia Twitchell, and Robert Yurek; and her 12 grandchildren: Mack, Caroline, Halley, Henry, Adrian, Isaiah, Ella June, Trent, Janet, Aiden, Kaleah, and Nova.
