Loving & Devoted Mother
A woman who may not have known at the time, made a huge mark on this earth. On the evening of June 5th, 2023, in her daughter’s arms and son-in-law at her side, Irene crossed the veil into the afterlife at the age of 75 years young.
Born to Gloria and Frank Rivers, Irene was an only child. She is preceded in death by her parents (dates unknown) and Husband, Jesus Torres who passed January of 1997. She is survived by her daughter, Flame Knuutila.
Her time on earth was cut short, but never soon forgotten. Her love for her family has no words. Her love spread far and wide for those in need of a friend, shoulder to cry on, spiritual guidance and much, much more.
As an animal lover, she always had room for that one creature with nowhere to go. In this life, Irene cared hard and loved her neighbors harder. She was always able to find the good in hardest times.
From a dressage instructor at 16 to girl scout leader as an adult, Irene seemed to have done it all. Later in life, Irene became a big-time bus driver as one of the first women accepted into the transportation field in CAT transit followed by the Clark County School District transportation in the years to follow. After retiring in the mid-2000s, Irene dedicated her life to travel and her crafts. She traveled around the west and had her share tearing up Route 66 before touching back home to refuel herself. She could always make something from nothing, revive those keepsakes and create new pieces of beautiful art.
A true adventurer, a stunning human and a beautiful soul will be truly missed.
For friends and family whose lives were touched and memories shared are invited to her memorial service. More information to follow.
