It is with deep sadness we announce that Emma “Jean” (Jensen) Whitcomb was called home to be with our Savior on October 18, 2024 at the age of 88 following a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease and dementia. She fought with dignity and determination and carried a smile and loving heart with her until her final passing.
Jean was born on March 13, 1936 in Parker Dam, California and had countless joyful and laughter-filled memories from her youth. She later married her husband, John, and raised her family in Southern California before moving to Boulder City, Nevada. In her most recent years, she lived with her daughter and son in Henderson, Nevada.
Jean was a kind, loving and selfless woman. Her passions included her children, her friendships, animals of every kind (especially our pets), nature, shopping trips, Vegas Golden Knights hockey games and L.A. Dodgers baseball games, holidays, movie nights, patriotism, and enjoying the simple pleasures of life. As a practicing Catholic, Jean had a strong faith in God and led a Christ-centered life, always putting others’ needs before her own. As a homemaker, Jean lovingly raised her two children with her husband of 29 years before his passing in 1998. She lived with gratitude and humility, and dedicated her life to caring for her family.
Jean was the beloved wife of John B. Whitcomb; mother of Steven Sean Whitcomb and Tracy Kathleen Whitcomb; daughter of Theodore Jensen and "Sally Rose" Celestina Getz; and sister of Theodore Jensen Jr., Donald Eugene Jensen and Vernon Lee Jensen. She loved and was loved by so many people, including her cousins, nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Jean that will be held Monday, November 4, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 PM, both at Palm Mortuary Henderson, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015. Jean will be laid to rest at 1:30 PM at the Boulder City Municipal Cemetery, 501 Adams Blvd, Boulder City, NV 89005.
Flowers may be sent to Palm Henderson Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Jean to Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health by clicking the donations link below.
