

Ken was born on February 26, 1941, in Ontario, Oregon, Malheur County.
Ken graduated from Arcadia High School in Arcadia Nebraska where he lettered in football.
He met Joanne Elizabeth Giles (Meyer) and they married on February 19, 1966. They spent 55 wonderful years together.
Ken was proud to serve in the US Navy as a medic. After his discharge in 1962 he started a 37 year career with the EPA as a Radiation Monitor until 2001. He continued his career at the Desert Research Institute as a Field Monitor until he retired.
He belonged to the Elk’s Lodge for many years and was a proud member and supporter of the NRA. He enjoyed photography, cultivating rose bushes, and a fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He and Joanne attended social events and they went to weekly lunches with fellow retirees.
He shared Joanne’s interest in the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia. They were also charter members of Community Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth F Giles, mother Lenore (Hartley) Giles and stepmother Alice Giles.
He is survived by son Robert Giles, his wife Jan Giles, grandson Patrick Giles, daughter Catherine Giles and grandson Tyler Giles.
Services will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021, at 10:00am at Palm Mortuary, 800 S Boulder Hwy, Henderson, NV 89015.

A private interment will be held on Monday, November 1, 2021 at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City
