I'm sad to say I never had the privilege of meeting you but I know you were a beautiful person I know this because your daughter Sue is a friend  I treasure with all my heart. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the family I know you watch over them when they all get together in your memory A year has passed and I am now just writing this I ask you to be with Sue today and watch over her and that your spirit embraces her as she under goes this major surgery.

Kim I miss you so much. You were a part of my life for a long time.  We laughed together at the "stupid" people on the Game Show Network. I'm sorry your side hurt every time you laughed, but you would say : It good to laugh just better no pain. I enjoyed all of our talks. I miss those talks. You are the bravest woman I know. You never took any crap from anyone. You always made everyone feel loved and cherished. Thank you for being such an awesome grandma to my kids. Please watch over them. I have so many memories of you that I will hold near and dear to my heart. We did some reminiscing, that was fun, the last few days before you went into the hospital. We laughed and cried. You told me how proud you were of all your kids and grandkids. Then, you told me a funny story about something each of them had said or done. I saw the change in your face when you talked about them. You lit up and it was as if the pain had left you. Now you are pain free. You are with Larry and probably at the casino hitting royals all over the place. Tell Larry I said "Hi". I'm sure I'll see you again.
Till then I love and miss you.

Kim your going to join Larry and Linda leaves all of your family and extended family with mixed feelings. We know that you are now relieved of of the pain and suffering you were going thru here on earth and that now you can watch over us  from afar. It does not lessen our sorrow  or grief, we will continue to honor your life with us and hopefully one day we will all be joined together again up yonder.

My prayers to all the family. I have good shared lunchtime memories with her great sense of humor and kind smile. Breaking bread in good company is always a blessing.

The time my grandma taught me how to make kimchee:
She took the cabbage that had been soaking in the sink and transferred it to a giant metal bowl. To it she added a chopped up Asian pear. Next, a shredded apple ("what kind of apple?" I asked. She responded "like a red"). The Asian pear and reddish Apple made it gourmet kimchee, she said. Now a bunch of spices and seasonings from various packages with Korean writing on them. From what I gathered, there was flavored seasoned salt (probably MSG, a friend told me), some kind of crushed red pepper (if you abuse this stuff, your a------ will burn for a week), garlic salt and garlic powder. All was added with absolutely no measurement except, " about like that much". She told me to grab a pot from the stove. I brought her a small pot that had roughly one cup of water in it. She poured it on top of her concoction. She said "you have to boil the water, then let it get cold". She started tossing everything together. I asked her why the water had to be boiled first, she stopped all movement. She looked extremely deep in thought, like she was deciding if she should tell me this big secret or not. "Because that's the way I do it, ok?" She sassed me. I got it. No more questions. She had me try to massage the kimchee. I swear I did it exactly the way she did, she sighed with frustration and said she would do it. I still do not know what I did wrong. She would not let me touch it for the rest of the process.
Thanks for teaching me how to make kimchee, Harmonee. Although I will never massage the cabbage the way you did, and God forbid if I don't boil the water and let it cool down. I love you, chalga ❤

Ah grandma son, you know how much I miss you. I hate that your passing is what finally got my head straight cause I wanted you to see me like this while you were still alive. I know you know how I feel on the inside cause I'm always talking and opening up to you, it just sucks I can't do that anymore in person because you were the realist person on this planet. I'll never forget all the knowledge you taught me since a little boy and like I told you the last day I seen you, I know your happy and not in pain anymore so again, please tell grandpa I said hi and I love him until we all meet again. I love you so much grandma and I promise you I'll make you proud like how I should've so long ago. All I hear when I think of you is your adorable laugh, I miss it but I know your looking down on us with that little "eee" smile. Please give my mom and sisters the strength and safety they deserve. I love you again grandmama, take care and hit that royal! *kiss on the forehead*

To my dear Grandma,

You mean the world to me. When I was young, we used to sit on the floor and play Yahtzee while Grandpa was watching those boring baseball games. I don't think I ever won against you, but I know how much I appreciated those times. More recently, we spent a little more time together, but not as much as I would have liked. Trips home from the Fiesta, to the Korean store, to the bank, to Taco Bell...cleaning your house, checking the mail...anything you needed I was more than happy to do. I felt like no matter how much I would do for you, it would never compare to how much you have done for me. You taught me how to appreciate my family, how to never give up on myself, how to be a better father and how to stand up for what is right. You told me to look after all of my younger cousins and to be a good example for them. I hope I have done that, or at least done enough to make a difference in their lives. All my life, I wanted so badly for you and Grandpa to be proud of me. You told me that he was, and I hope that you are. I will honor your memory and try to make you proud every day, for the rest of my life. I have truly cherished and appreciated every moment you took to spend with me. I love you.

I miss you so much. I'll never forget our talk back in July. It pulled me out of one of the hardest times in my Life thus far. Thank you for that. You were hands down the best grandma anyone could have. Im so blessed and thankful that my boys had the chance to grow up around you.  You're the only great grandparent they know and that they will remember forever. You were the one who taught Mason to clap for on cue for the first time at 6 months old and he thought that rolling dog that laughed was the greatest thing ever. I'll never forget how hard you laughed at him playing with it as a baby. Thank you for asking and wanting my boys to  stay with you and my mom just so I could have a break even though you didn't feel at ur best a few times. I see u in Carter the most. The way he says "What the heck?" At almost everything makes me smile and he's yelled at me twice for watching The Price Is Right, that's grandma Kim's show we can't watch it without you! Thank you for everything you did, said, and taught our family. We miss you and love you forever!

Dear Grandma, I will miss you so much. I will miss your delicious kimichi, bulgogi, and all your other delicious foods. you have been kind, and loving, and I'm glad you are my grandma. we shared the greatest buffet and I always loved when you told me, "you always get the pizza here." you always made me laugh and always made me happy. I love you and miss you grandma and I know you will hit all the royal flushes. say hi to grandpa Larry for me. love you grandma, I hope you have a wonderful time with grandpa. :)

Like it was yesterday, I still hear your voice. Kim, I'm off your grass but, my fondest memories of your kindness and generosity shall never pass.  Rest in Peace.

Thank you for bringing so many laughs without even trying and for being compassionate when I needed you. I wish we could go on an Olive Garden date one last time. I miss you, and I wish I was able to spend more time with you. Truth is, I've said goodbye to a lot of people this year, and I just had no idea I was going to have to say goodbye to you too. Thank you for being so good to Mom, Lana, and I. I truly admire the way you never hid your feelings. You always said exactly what was on your mind, and the way you said things was truly comical. I wish I learned how to make your kimchi, kalbi, and bulgogi. No one else's Korean food tastes as good as yours. I miss calling you and hearing you say "thank you for call" when you were done talking to me. Holidays aren't going to be the same without you. You were the glue in this crazy family, and we all miss you so much. But I know Grandpa is so happy to be with you again. I love you, Grandma.

I miss you so much already.  You were always so easy to talk to.  You never gave up on me during the hard times and always told me how proud you were during the good ones.  You'll never know how much that meant to me.  Sunday dinners will never be the same.  Although delivering your plate every week at one point seemed like a chore, towards the end I really looked forward to it.  Man, I wish I could deliver just one more plate to you.  You will forever be a part of me Grandma. I love you so much

Oma, You can't imagine how much I miss you, there is a void in my life because you are gone. I'm so sorry that I took you for granted, for whatever reason I just didn't expect you to be taken from me. I have always felt so lucky to had you as my mom, I remember growing up and a lot of my friends didn't get along with their mothers, but you and I always had a really good relationship. You were never strict with me which irritated the boys and there were lots of times you defended me to dad which would cause you two to fight (sorry for that), but I always tried to do the best that I could because I didn't like disappointing you. My favorite memories of you were when we would laugh so hard we would cry. I got such a kick out of watching you watch "Baby's Day Out", that was by far the movie you laughed the hardest at. I love you with all of my heart and I miss you so much it hurts.

Dear Oma,  I am such a blessed woman to have had you in my life.  I thought I was the luckiest girl in the world having met my true love and soulmate in your son, Peter, but what I didn't expect was the loving bond I had with you.  What a precious gift you will always be to me.  I will treasure our times cooking together and all the life lessons I learned. Mom, it's #3 son, Slow.  I love you and miss you every day. You always said if you were rich you would want a pink cadillac.  Well, you didn't need a pink cadillac to tell everyone you were rich, as you were one of the richest persons I know.  You were surrounded by so many wonderful friends and family members that loved you just the way you were.  No matter how much money someone has, money can't buy what you had.  You were also one of the bravest people I've ever known.  Making the decision to leave your family, your home, your country, not knowing if you would ever see any of them ever again, to come to a far away land where you didn't speak the language or know anyone, took so much courage.  I don't know that I would have that courage to do the same. But I for one, am grateful that you were so strong to make that decision all those years ago or I wouldn't be here today.  I'm going to miss your famous spare ribs and potato salad that others try to make, but it's never quite the same. I'm going to miss watching you sit on the edge of the seat listening intently to every question on Family Feud, or Jeopardy, or $20,000 Pyramid, knowing that even though you didn't understand any of the questions, or know any of the answers, you were still right there rooting for those people to win.  And when they guessed some crazy amount and lost badly on The Price Is Right, you would say "you so stupid".  And of course, you were right.  I'm going to miss visiting you and taking you to the Fiesta, and seeing the joy that hitting four aces with the kicker would bring you. And, Big Enough, you always seemed to win when I would come to town.  Most of all, I'm going to miss hearing you say, "thank you for calling" when you were ready to end our phone conversation.  And you would say, "I love you, and tell Serena I love her", and I would say, "what about Barcley?", and you would say, "I love Barcley too...", and I would say, "what about Luna?", and you would say, "yes, Luna too...", and I would say, "what about the fish?", and you would say, "yes, the fish too."  And finally, I would say, "And thank you for answering."  I'm going to continue to call on you now and again, so thank you for answering.  Your son

Kum Soon, it's Mike Hogan. That's the way your new phone would announce when I called, so I thought I'd give it one more try. Just wanted to tell you how thankful I am to have had you as my Mother. I'm thankful you stuck around for almost 87 years. I'm thankful you had your mind and wit until the end. I'm thankful I had the chance, along with Michael-Anne, to see how much reverence your family had for you when we visited Korea. I know, its a big word but I bet you get the gist of it. What a beautiful Obituary.  I will never forget the times Larry and Kim, and the kids would come over to the house.  Larry would have me laughing so hard I was usually crying. The stories he would tell!!! OMG  What wonderful memories!!!
Mom has said that she will never forget the day your dad (Larry), my dad (Gary) and mom (Patti)  picked your mom up at the airport when she finally got to come to the US.  Love and prayers to all of you.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your mother.  Her life sounded full and she certainly was a beautiful woman as I flipped thru the photo gallery.  What a wonderful legacy of family she and your dad left with all of their children.  My thoughts are going out you as you celebrate her life with friends and family over the coming days.
