Marthanna Redden Freeman was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas on August 3, 1938 to John and Anna Redden. She was their only child, their pride and joy. They instilled in her a love for the Lord which she treasured until her last days. An excellent student, she married and moved to Las Vegas in the 1960’s. She was married for ten years, during which time her two children were born. She maintained close relationships with both of her daughters and was extremely proud of them and their accomplishments. She worked for the Clark County School District for 31 years, and was most proud of her promotion to Unified Crime Reporting with the School Police, a position she enjoyed immensely. Martie loved being a grandmother. In fact, some her proudest family moments were participating in the births of her two grandsons and the knowledge that she passed on her love for singing to her granddaughter. She was grateful to witness all three of her grandchildren accept the Lord as their Savior and follow the example of Christ through baptism. About ten years ago, Martie retired from the school district, enabling her to spend much more time with her beloved friends and family, enjoying such pastimes as going to the movies, bowling, swimming, and even oil painting. She was an avid collector, especially of Santa figurines, blue-and-white porcelain and anything to do with butterflies and hydrangeas. During this time, she started the Victory Roadrunners Red Hat Society, Henderson Chapter of which she was known as The Queen Mum. In January of 2012, Maureen, Thomas and the kids came to live in her home to be closer to her. After a gradual decline in health, Marthanna passed peacefully from this life the morning of August 23, 2012 in her home. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family during the last months of her life. Marthanna is survived by her two daughters, Colleen Freeman and Maureen Brule, her three grandchildren, Wesley, Alexis and James Brule, her son-in-law, Thomas Brule, her many cousins and her dear friends.
