

Martin J. Clancy Jr., age 79, of Henderson, Nevada passed away on Friday, November 4, 2022. Martin was born on April 10, 1943 in Croften, Nebraska to Myrtle E. porter and Martin Joseph Clancy; he was the oldest of five children. In 1950, the family relocated to to Henderson, where he would grow up, and graduate from Basic High School in 1961.
On March 21, 1963 Martin would enlist in the U.S. Air Force; where he would serve honorably for the next four years. For his hard work, and duty to country; Martin would be awarded his small arms expert badge, Marksmanship ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, and obtain the rank of Airman 2 Class. Upon discharge from active duty in 1967, Martin would continue his service in the reserves for another 2 years, being honorably discharged in 1969.
On August 29, 1969, Martin would meet the love of his life, Toni Thompson, in Tallahassee, Florida. They married on August 29, 1970, at Little Church of the West in Las Vegas, Nevada. The young couple would soon begin an adventure that would span over the next 52 years. They liked spending time together and taking many road trips on motorcycles; enjoying the open road for over 300,000 miles.
Martin enjoyed racing and had a passion for building cars and motorcycles. He was a drag racer, who had the first 10 second single barrel carb in a Corvette Coup. He also drag raced Harley Davidson and Kawasaki motorcycles, in addition to racing Pontiacs and Chevy cars.
Martin was also a gun enthusiast. Not only was a he small arms expert in the service, but Martin was also a NRA Lifetime Master pistol & rifle Shooter, Master with International Confederation of Revolver Shooters, and a Lifetime Master Police Protective Association Member.
Martin was a man who enjoyed life to the fullest, an enrolled member of Ponca Tribe in Niobrara, Nebraska, a true patriot of his country, and will truly me missed.
Martin was preceded in death by his father, Martin Joseph Clancy; and his mother, Myrtle E. Porter, and his sister, Shannon Rose. He is survived by his wife, Toni Clancy; his siblings: Faith Howe (Sioux City, Iowa), Patrick Clancy (Las Vegas), Erin Hayter (Henderson), extended family, and many friends.
A committal service with military honors for Martin will be held Friday, November 18, 2022 at 12:00 PM at the Southern Nevada Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veteran's Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005.
