

Melba Lucille Hobbs, 85, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, February 3, 2025. She was born on October 5, 1939 in Star City, Arkansas to the late Garvin “Bill” and Eldred Mcgehee Ferguson. She was a graduate of Star City High School in Arkansas and worked at the shirt factory.
Melba moved to California in 1966 and was a member of First Baptist Church of Prunedale. She was a homemaker while her children were growing up and then went back to work at Home Savings Bank. She loved spending time with her family, shopping, gardening and going to church.
Melba was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Hershel Ferguson; her son, Mitchell Swaithes; and her son-in-law, Clem Brodowicz. She is survived by her husband, David Hobbs of Las Vegas, Nevada; her daughters: Melony Brodowicz of Oakdale, California; and Monica (David) Ralph of Waddell, Arizona; four grandchildren: Christina (Joseph) Banas, Sarah Kelley, Nikolas Brodowicz, and Joshua (Hannah) Ralph; and five great-grandchildren: Tyler, Haley, Jaicob, Braydon, and Grant.
A visitation for Melba will be held Thursday, February 20, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Palm Mortuary - Henderson, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, Nevada 89015. Funeral services followed by committal will occur Friday, February 21, 2025 beginning at 10:40 AM at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Mem, Boulder City, Nevada 89005.
